COMMUNITY GROUPS LIST (download)

Pastor Ed Kelley

The small group ministry at CCFW (Community Groups) exists to promote the progressive sanctification of the saints, see to the mutual care of individual believers; enjoy fellowship around and in the person of Jesus Christ, and employ the ministry of the Holy Spirit within each believer.

"Make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.” –Philippians 2:2

"Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body and each member belongs to all the others.” –Romans 12:4,5

What are community groups?
Many of us are already involved in various ministries and others are looking to be involved in the body of Christ. You might be asking yourself, “Why should I make another commitment?” or “How can I connect with other folks who attend here?” or “What is the purpose of Community Groups and why should I be connected to one?” Those are good questions. Christ’s Church has a Senior Pastor who faithfully teaches and preaches from God’s Word every Sunday. It is our individual responsibility to apply the truth to our own life thereby growing more into the image of Christ. In the book of James we are admonished to not only be a hearer of the Word but be a doer of the Word. Community Groups provide an avenue for becoming a growing ‘doer’. They are a place to Work out in a practical way, the truth of God’s word from that we have been taught.

Community Groups aim to: further the teaching process by providing a forum in which personal sanctification is a goal; provide mutual care and fellowship which flow out of connections that are made within the body of Christ; and provide the opportunity to make the most of the ministry of the Holy Spirit as believer’s individual gifts are realized and utilized.

Will you be able to accomplish these biblical purposes by attending church on Sunday? Perhaps, but it will be very difficult. Besides offering accountability, Community Groups provide encouragement along the way through making connections that are difficult to cultivate before and after Sunday Services.
