OUR PROBLEMS

We all have problems. Life can be difficult and complicated. Our relationships, marriages, families, health, finances, jobs and an endless list of challenges can seem overwhelming at times. Perhaps you or someone you care about has reached a point where problems are taking a toll.

The problems we encounter may seem beyond our control. Yet often they are the result of choices. We make choices that affect us and affect others for good or for bad. Others make choices that affect us for good or for bad. The Bible calls wrong choices sin. The Bible tells us that we have all sinned (Romans 3:23). What can we do about our problems? Is there hope?

GOD'S SOLUTIONS

God has solutions. The One who created us knows us. He knows exactly what we need. God wrote a handbook to guide us through the many challenges we face in life. The Bible, God’s Word, gives us the wisdom and tools we need to overcome even our most difficult problems.

Through Jesus Christ, God solved the problem of our sin. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). This is where our hope starts.

As believers in Christ, we are not on our own in our problems. God has given us a Helper, His Spirit, to empower us to respond to our problems in a way that pleases Him and benefits us. His Spirit is our “Counselor so that He may be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. He stays with you and will be in you” (John 14:16, 17).

REAL HOPE

God is the God of hope. Hope in the Bible is not a wish, it is a certainty. God is unchanging and faithful. His promises are unfailing. Romans 15:4 says “through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we may have hope.” The world gives plenty of advice for overcoming problems. Only God’s Word is sure!

“All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work” (1 Timothy 3:16-17).

God’s solutions to our problems are found in His Word, the Bible. By allowing another believer to come alongside you and help you understand and apply God’s Word to your situation, you will begin to see God’s solutions for your problems. As you apply God’s solutions, you will experience hope. You will become more and more like Jesus Christ, you will bring Glory to God, and you will learn to fully enjoy your relationship with Him.
