BISHOP, Colin & NHLAPO, Simphiwe
COLIN BISHOP
Colin is the Director of Prevention Time SA (South Africa), an HIV/AIDS prevention ministry using a Bible program called Reach4Life© (copyrighted by Biblica) to halt the spread of the disease to the next generation.
Immorality is a deadly killer in Africa today. Ignoring morality, along with actually promoting ‘safe sex’, has been headlined as "The spark of the AIDS wildfire" that continues to rage in Africa. Picture the destruction that AIDS, clothed in ignorance about its causes and prevention, is cutting across the African continent:
- A man or woman dies of AIDS every 12 seconds
- In 2006, 2.5 million people succumbed to the disease
- Some 2.7 million were newly infected with the AIDS virus in 2005
- 24 million are living under a death sentence as HIV positive
- AIDS orphans numbering 15 million have lost one or both parents
- Youth, ages 10-20, are most vulnerable to this sexually transmitted disease
However, what has proved to be Satan’s grandest scheme to destroy humanity has also proved to be the most remarkable opportunity to evangelize in African history. Reach4Life© is now being taught to thousands of kids in public schools.
SIMPHIWE NHLAPO
Christ’s Church supports the PreventionTime-SA ministry through the direct financial support of Simphiwe, a Field Coordinator who manages the roll outs of this material in the worst infected/affected HIV/Aids area in the world, and develops the local churches connected to the schools Ministry.
Simphiwe was recently ordained as a Pastor (2010). However, his passion and calling is Aids Prevention and church development. He started as a volunteer in early 2006, but it soon became obvious that his gifting and passion for this mission work were worth taking seriously; he is gifted with youth, teaching and compassion, and has an excellent grounding in the Word.
He was quick to learn both prevention and church leader training skills, and has had extensive experience in both rural and urban ministry. He soon started training others, and has done a great job coordinating the roll outs in the worst infected area in the world, KwaZulu-Natal (province of South Africa - google location). He is responsible and respected.
Simphiwe is a Zulu and well spoken in English and several other local vernacular languages. To Christ’s Church he says “Ngiyabonga” (Zulu for thank you).
