Don’t Go To Church
Recently, I read this straight-forward no-nonsense piece (not sure who wrote it), but it caught my attention because I love the church and gathering together with God's people to worship the One who is worthy of our best.
Let the following words remind you or stun you or motivate you.
If you're going for the fog machine...don't go.
If you're going for the coffee bar...don't go.
If you're going to grade the sermon...don't go.
If you're going because it's Sunday...don't go.
If you're going to be seen...don't go.
If you're going to feel good...don't go.
If you're going to consume...don't go.
Go to bow.
Go to confess.
Go to be broken.
Go to worship the living God, not rate the experience like a Yelp review.
Don't go to church.
Be the church.
Let's remember what Jesus said, "I will build My church and the gates of Hades will not overpower it" (Matt 16:18). So come to worship Him as we greet one another, fellowship, pray, partake of Lord's supper, sing, serve, confess the foundations truths we hold dear, learn God's Word together, and then scatter to shine the light of the gospel through our life and words to those around us.

Foundation Faith Statement #30:What are the outward and ordinary means by which Christ communicates to us the benefits of redemption?
The outward and ordinary means are His ordinances, especially the Word, baptism, the Lord’s supper, and prayer, all of which are made effective to all who are saved (Romans 10:17; James 1:18; 1 Corinthians 3:5; Acts 14:1, 2:41–42)
