Gideon Led Israel (Judges 6-8)

Read & Discuss

In the Bible, God repeatedly displays His strength by using weak people. Gideon seemed to have bigger fear than faith, but God used him to lead the fight against the Midianites. God reduced Israel’s army to just 300 men, and the victory was won because with God all things are possible. God confused the Midianites and they fought against each other! Victory over sin in our lives comes from God’s power alone. Jesus, God’s Son, has defeated the power of sin. God helps us to say no to sin and yes to righteousness (Titus 2:12).

Activity

Go on a prayer walk around your neighborhood. Pray for your neighbors (by name if possible), and ask God to make His power and goodness visible to them so they’ll trust in Him.

Memory Verse

Write out 2 Chronicles 7:14 on 3x5 cards and tape one on each door in the house. Quote the verse each time you pass by. “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Prayer

Give thanks to God that He gives you strength in difficult times. Remember God tells us that we can do all things through Him who gives us strength (Philippians 4:13). Thank God that He is with you and never will leave you.
