What a Question!

Are you willing to do for the truth what the cults do for a lie?

Ever heard this question? Ever stopped to contemplate its implications for your life?

If we truly have the only gospel truth that can rescue us from eternal danger (and we do) and Satan is committed to spreading his damning lies through false religion (and he does), then what does that mean about our witness? Are we willing to allow Satan’s evangelists to out-share us?

Growing in our love, courage, and passion for the proclamation of God’s revolutionary gospel (the saving death, burial, and resurrection of His Son) needs regular attention and encouragement. Allow the following truths and quotes to impassion and motivate your heart to another level of gospel living and gospel sharing.

  • Jesus: “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest” (Matthew 9:37–38).

  • Peter: “The Lord…is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

  • Paul: “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:20).

  • John the Baptist: “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29)

  • John: “Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name” (John 20:30–31).

  • Jude: “Save others, snatching them out of the fire” (Jude 23).

  • Solomon: "He who is wise wins souls” (Proverbs 11:30).

  • God: “For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies, declares the Lord. Therefore, repent and live” (Ezekiel 18:32; 33:11).

  • Charles Hadden Spurgeon: “If sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay. If hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go there unwarned and unprayed for.”

  • C.T. Studd: “Some wish to live within the sound of a chapel bell; I wish to run a rescue mission within a yard of hell.”

  • Ray Comfort: “Don’t pray for less fear to reach the lost. Pray for more love.”

Did you know? The average Mormon missionary pays $12,000 to spend two years telling people about a false Jesus. Here’s what they do. They get up every morning at 6:30am (pray, exercise 30 minutes, shower, eat breakfast, do language and prescribed studies), then spend 11 hours witnessing and doing service projects (between 10am and 9pm).  During that time, they are given 30 minutes for lunch and 60 minutes for dinner and time to study their lessons with their companions. They are expected to go to bed by 10:30pm after writing in their journals and praying. One day a week is called preparation day (write letters, emails, do laundry, shop, clean living quarters, recreate, exercise, and witness between 6pm and 9pm) and once a week, they meet with a district leader for up to 90 minutes to discuss and assess their progress. Over the two years of missionary work, they are allowed to call, text, or do video chats only once a week (formerly twice a year before 2019) on their preparation day. They do all of this and more to tell people about a false gospel and a false Savior.

Our response?  Pray for God to ignite a renewed passion in your heart to be a more faithful and bold witness with the only gospel and only Savior who can rescue people from their damning sins.

What are you and I willing to do differently and more faithfully for the truth?

Pastor Jeff
