Let's Pause and Remember

All too often it seems the Christmas season is a blur. It comes and goes so quickly, doesn’t it?

It’s not the American way, but let’s slow down, be still, take time to reflect, and let it really sink in—the real meaning and message of Christmas. We heard it once again on Sunday:

Jesus emptied Himself.
He took on human flesh.
He became a servant.
He humbled himself.
He obeyed to the point of death on a cross.

All so you and I could be reconciled to God.

Let’s put a pause on the hustle and bustle of life and the holidays, and with our full attention remember and celebrate Jesus, Emmanuel—God with us, our glorious Savior. Let’s proclaim boldly to all who will listen the real reason for the season and exactly why it is the most wonderful time of the year.

While enjoying the traditions of Christmas, let’s be sure to keep the main things—the most most important things—in view.

Let’s be consumed with gratitude as we thank God for his inexpressible gift (2 Cor. 9:15).

Let’s renew our commitment to wholeheartedly follow and serve the One who came not to be served, but to serve and give His life a ransom for many (Matt. 20:28).

Let’s give Him His rightful place in our hearts and lives here and now, knowing full well that one day every knee will bow and every tongue confess…that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father (Phil. 2:10-11).

Have a wonderful Christmas, everyone!
