S.U.M.M.E.R.T.I.M.E. Tips

We are all hoping (at least I am) for the beautiful sun to break out soon and give us some consecutive days to enjoy the summer together with our families, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ. As you think about your summer plans, I’d like to share a few summertime tips.

Solomon tells us “there is an appointed time for everything…” (Ecclesiastes 3:1) and we all enjoy the summertime to get some extra time to relax, refresh, and enjoy an outdoor season of life.

Here are a few S.U.M.M.E.R.T.I.M.E. tips:

Slow down and enjoy a getawayGet out of town and get some rest and relaxation with your family.

Utilize your finances wisely! Don’t burden yourself with debt to do something you can’t afford. Live within your means and enjoy life after vacation.

Make memories with your family! Be creative and do something different, surprising, unconventional, unfamiliar, and unexpected.

Maintain a growing faith! Don’t let the casualness of summertime creep into your faithKeep your Bible close by, read a good Christian book, or listen to some solid Christian podcasts. Stay fresh!

Enjoy another church while you’re away! Experience the blessing of another fellowship and bring back some ideas, bulletins, jokes, and illustrations (for the pastor).

Remember your responsibilities! If you’re serving (which we all should be), secure a replacement before you leave. Continue to be generous toward the Lord’s work as ministry continues during your absence.

Tell someone about Jesus Christ! Be on the lookout for divine appointments. Ask God to give you courage and an opportunity to share. It can alter someone’s eternity.

Invest in the needs of others! It’s amazing how many people need an encouraging word, a listening ear, and a helpful hand. Offer to help someone who you see in need.

Maximize your opportunities! Wherever you find yourself this summer, take full advantage of any doors the Lord opens to enjoy, enrich, and experience.

Expect to return safe and charged up! Our church family is not the same without you, so make sure you come back excited and ready to make more and better disciples of Jesus Christ with us.
