The Israelites Wanted a King (1 Samuel 8-10)
Read & Discuss
Have you visited a frozen yogurt shop before? There are so many toppings to choose from (sprinkles, chocolate pieces, candies) and it’s tempting to put on lots that make the yogurt even more sweet. Too many toppings would only lead to a stomachache and then, regret! God’s people did not like the judges God gave them and Samuel warned they would regret asking for a king. The people didn’t care, so God gave them what they wanted – a king named Saul. When people sin, they choose their own way and reject God’s way. When we sin, we reject God’s rule in our lives as King. Jesus, the King of kings, died for our sins and rose again so that we could be forgiven. Repent, believe in Jesus, receive forgiveness today!

Memory Verse
Psalm 103:19 says “The LORD has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all.” Write this on a chalkboard, a whiteboard, or a piece of paper and put it where the family can see it each day.
