Wisdom of God’s People (Proverbs 1:1-7, 3:1-12)

Read & Discuss

As we come to the end of a year of Family Worship Resource cards, share about how you’ve enjoyed discussing God’s Word and a special lesson or two that you’ve learned. God showed His love to Solomon and the Israelites by giving the king the Bible’s wisdom to pass on to them and to us. The book of Proverbs has great wisdom. Proverbs 3:5 reminds us to trust in God always and to not lean on our own understanding. Solomon’s proverbs encourage God’s people to trust in the Lord. Trust God when you read “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved (Acts 16:31).” Trust in Him today!

Activity

Draw a large tree on a piece of paper. Use green construction paper to create leaves to tape on the tree. On each leaf, write a wise saying or some advice you’ve learned from the Bible or other wise persons. Talk about the ways God gives us wisdom as you build the tree and watch it grow!

Memory Verse

Write a “hello” letter to a family member who lives far away. Somewhere in the letter share this verse and what it means to you: “Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.”

Prayer

Ask God to help you to trust Him today – even if you don’t always understand what you’re going through. Thank God for the Holy Spirit who lives in us and who helps us grow in His wisdom.
