What the Resurrection Proves about Jesus

The late Pastor Tim Keller said this: “If Jesus rose from the dead, they you have to accept all that He said; if He didn’t rise from the dead, then why worry about any of what He said? The issue on which everything hangs is not whether or not you like His teaching but whether or not He rose from the dead.”

Because Jesus Christ rose from the dead, it proves:

  • He is a true prophet who predicted His own resurrection (John 2:19–22; Matthew 16:21; 17:22–23; 20:18–19; 26:32).

  • He is a true priest forever (Hebrews 2:16–17).

  • He is declared the Son of God with great power (Romans 1:4).

  • He is the Lord of the dead and the living (Romans 14:9; Acts 10:42).

  • He is the final Judge of the world (Acts 17:31; Matthew 16:27; 1 Peter 4:5)

  • He is coming again to deliver believers from the wrath to come (1 Thessalonians 1:9–10).

  • He holds the keys of death and of Hades (Revelation 1:18).

  • He is the head over all things to the church (Ephesians 1:20, 22).

  • He is far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named (Ephesians 1:20–21).

  • He has all things in subjection under His feet as the One who must reign (Ephesians 1:20, 22; 1 Corinthians 15:25).

  • He has been given glory from His heavenly Father (1 Peter 1:21).

  • He intercedes for us in His prayers (Romans 8:34).

  • He was given the holy and sure promises of David (Acts 13:34).

  • He is exalted to the right hand of the Father (Acts 2:32-33).

  • He is the centerpiece and subject of our gospel proclamation (Acts 4:2, 33; 17:18).

  • He is singular focus of our faith and hope of salvation (Romans 10:9).

The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ is monumental in its testimony of His indisputable identity and supremacy. There is no one higher, no one greater, and no one stronger than our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who gave us a living hope (1 Peter 1:3) as our life-giving spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45).

So love Him, worship Him, serve Him, treasure Him, obey Him, cling to Him, and be faithful to Him as the living One (Luke 24:5; Revelation 1:18).
