Buttons was born in Phoenix, Arizona. She is married to Tom, and they have 3 grown children and 14 grandchildren.  

Buttons was not raised in a Christian home, but had always felt the need to be accepted by God. She was invited to church by a high school classmate and accepted Christ at church at an altar call after attending a few months.

She has been attending Christ’s Church since 1989 and joined the staff in 1990. Her ministry passion is serving, and she considers it a privilege to serve on staff at the church.

Her favorite book is A Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. Her favorite childhood memory is getting a bicycle for Christmas, and her favorite local getaway is Port Townsend.
