How to Become a New Creation

God’s desire | God loves you and created you to have a personal, unbroken relationship with Him.

  1. You were created with great care and a great call. How does Genesis 1:27-28 support this?

  2. To what extent did God go to show His love for you? John 3:16

  3. John 17:3 indicates God wants us to know Him. Briefly explain what you know about God and your relationship with Him.

What my sin did | Our sin brought about a broken relationship with God.

  1. Anything that hinders our relationship with God is sin. Anything short of God’s standard

is sin. Read Romans 3:23. Evaluate your own life and list some things in your life God may consider to be sin.

  2. Who is guilty of sinning against God? (Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23)

  3. James 4:17 and 1 John 3:4 give several more descriptions of sin. After reading these verses, what are some areas in your life you now recognize as sin? What are some of the consequences of sin in your life?

Sin’s consequences | Our sin resulted in some very devastating consequences. 1. List some of the spiritual consequences of sin:

  • Romans 6:23 _________________________

  • Isaiah 59:2 ___________________________

  • Galatians 3:10 ________________________

    2. Read Ephesians 2:8-9. Can we help ourselves, or do we need outside help?

God’s perfect solution | Only through Jesus Christ can you have a personal relationship with God.

  1. How did God demonstrate His love for us? What state were we in when He did this? (Romans 5:8)

  2. Use the following verses to answer the question, “Who is Jesus Christ?”

  • What words does Romans 5:9 use to show Jesus as Savior?

          _________________________________________________

  • How does Romans 6:23 show Jesus is Lord?

          _________________________________________________

  • How does John 14:6 show Jesus is our only hope?

          _________________________________________________

    3. From your understanding of these verses, describe Jesus Christ and His purpose. What does this mean in your life personally?

My response | You must personally respond by trusting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. 1. List the actions necessary in responding to God’s perfect solution:

    • Acts 16:31 _____________________________

    • Acts 3:19 ______________________________

    • Romans 10:9 ___________________________

      2. Who is eligible to respond to God’s sin solution? (Romans 10:13)

What Next? | Review each step of this lesson: God’s Desire, What my Sin Did, Sin’s Consequences, God’s Perfect Solution, My Response.

Write any questions you may have concerning any of these areas:

When all your questions have been answered, ask yourself: “Am I willing to receive God’s solution to my sin problem?” If so, pray a prayer similar to the following:

“Lord Jesus, I admit my sinfulness. I believe Jesus Christ died for my sin and rose again. I repent of my sin and accept your forgiveness. I receive you now as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for giving me eternal life.” Amen
