A Tragic Reminder of Our Greatest Need
We have all been reminded recently, through a string of tragic murders, of the overwhelming need for the gospel of Jesus Christ to truly transform both hearts and culture.
The cold-blooded assassination of 31-year-old Charlie Kirk—husband, father, and co-founder and executive director of Turning Point USA—was horrific, to say the least.
Charlie was a bold and vocal believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, and now he is suddenly at home with the Lord.
Our hearts ache for his wife, Erika, and their two young children as they grieve this great and tragic loss.
When tragedies like this occur, we are profoundly reminded of two monumental truths from Scripture:
We are sinners capable of the worst kind of evil. Satan is called “the god of this world” (2 Cor. 4:4), so this was not only a reprehensible act—it was demonic (John 8:44).
Jesus Christ is the one and only true Savior, who alone can forgive all our sins and grant us eternal life.
No amount of policing or new laws or justice-minded politicians can ever change a heart. But only the gospel is able to revolutionize any sinner from the inside out. We have that gospel. Our eyes have been opened and we have a big mission field to proclaim the only news that can revolutionize anyone's heart now and forever.
Please pray for Erika and their family, for the perpetrator to be brought to justice, for God to have mercy on our country and leaders and for the church to rise up and boldly live and proclaim the good news.
