Samuel Was Born and Called (1 Samuel 1-3)

Read & Discuss

Doesn’t it feel good when someone calls you by name when they are talking to you? You can make friends and lasting relationships when you call others by their name. God spoke to Samuel by name, calling Samuel to serve Him. Samuel shared God’s message of salvation to the Israelites, bringing hope to them all. God wants us to spend time with Him through prayer and reading the Bible so we can learn to hear His voice. God calls people to turn from sin and follow Jesus. Everyone who responds by trusting in Jesus is saved from sin.

Activity

Do you know a family with young children at church, in your neighborhood, or school? Deliver a meal or drop off coffee this week. Share what you’ve learned about Samuel and how his mother trusted God. Hannah raised Samuel with devotion and then gave her son back to God for His purposes.

Memory Verse

Say this verse (Philippians 4:19) aloud every day this week at dinner: “ And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” The goal is to memorize (Note: to memorize means to hide God’s word in our heart and mind).

Prayer

Praise God when you pray for God’s love and patience, and thank God for how He provides for your family. Ask God for faith like Hannah when you pray to Him.
