What a Feast!

My top 5 favorite drinks are: sweet iced tea, Dr. Pepper, Diet Snapple Peach Tea, Coke Zero, and the Monster Zero Ultra. I really like the Snapple drinks because they have a fun fact under their bottle caps, though they have found that a few of their so-called facts need some correction.

One I saw years ago that stated “the only food that does not spoil is honey.” Now who doesn’t love honey on hot dinner rolls, but this Snapple fact overlooked that vinegar and table salt were also indefinitely stable.

Nonetheless, it reminded me of how God characterizes the best spiritual food anyone could ever consume. Listen to the following Scriptures:

  • Jesus quoted Deuteronomy 8:3 to deflect one of Satan’s temptation: “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” (Matt. 4:4).

  • Peter told the church: “Like newborn babes, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation” (1 Peter 2:2).

  • Jeremiah said, “Your words were found and I ate them, and Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart” (Jeremiah 15:16).

  • Even King David said God’s Word is “sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb” in Psalm 19.

Sweet, healthy food for the soul. You can eat as much as you want and never have to diet. And it’s always available! Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will not pass away” (Matthew 24:35).

So let’s feast away!!
