Thank God for Creating Angels

Did you thank God today for creating angels? I hope you did. Angels are “ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation” (Heb. 1:14). Even as you read this article, an innumerable host of unseen servants are responding to God-given directives to serve us. It’s not something we often verbalize gratitude for, but it is a reality in every believer’s life. Let’s take a moment to remind ourselves of two essential truths about God’s ministering spirits:

  1. God sends angels to serve those who inherit salvation. There is nothing you will face today that God has not already seen (Isa. 46:10) and dispatched His angels to provide us with exactly what we need to glorify Him. Whether it is rescuing you from impending doom, like the angel who freed Peter from execution in prison (Acts 12:1–10), or ministering to you like the angels who ministered to Jesus after His temptation in the wilderness (Mt. 4:11), you can be sure that angels are present and at work. I encourage you to take time today and thank God for the angels He has sent to render service to you.

  2. God wants you to emulate holy angels in their perfect obedience. Angels behold the face of God, eagerly waiting for Him to send them to your aid (Mt. 18:10). They do not hesitate to serve with perfect obedience when they get His command (Ps. 103:20–21). If the angels obey God’s order to help us, should we not also obey His commands so that we may do His will on earth as it is in heaven (Mt. 6:10)? Through His Word, we discover what God wants to happen. It is up to us to obediently do His will on earth with the same immediate obedience modeled by the angels in heaven.

Today, I am thankful for the angels! I am challenged by their obedience and grateful for their service. Most of all, I give glory to God for creating extraordinary creatures to assist me as I live a life worthy of His calling through the gospel of Jesus Christ! I invite you to join me in giving God glory today.
