Building Godly Families
Over this next year, we will be focusing our attention as an entire church on “Building Godly Families.” We will be kicking this effort off with a Family Conference here at CCFW in just two weeks on August 23rd and 24th. The purpose of this conference is to help strengthen families by equipping parents, grandparents (as well as future parents and grandparents), and anyone that is involved in teaching, training, and raising up the next generation. That means you!
Responding to Disrespect
Most everyone has now heard about or viewed the offensive display of drag queens, a transgender model, and a naked singer made up as the Greek god of wine, Dionysus, to evoke Leonardo Da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” during the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. Needless to say, there was an immediate and loud outcry.
Keep Running
Paris is about to become the central focus in the world of sports as it hosts the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games July 26th to August 11th. They tell us there will be 350,000 hours of television broadcasting, millions of spectators, 35 venues, 329 events representing 32 sports, 45,000 volunteers, and 600,000+ meals served at the Athletes Village every day to 10,500 athletes. These athletes come from 206 countries and territories around the world all trying to win one or more of the 329 coveted gold medals.
The Power of One
In our impersonal, overcrowded world, it is very easy to undervalue the power of one. Have you ever wondered if your voice, your input, your stand, your action makes a difference? It’s easy to think that everyone else is more capable, more gifted, and more important than you.
Think about it:
God’s Precision
This past Sunday, I shared the amazing fulfillment of one of many Messianic prophecies God has given us in His Word. This prophecy was about the “Seventy weeks” (490 years) of Israel’s future predicted in Daniel 9:24–27.
Run to Win
The Summer Olympics begin in Paris, France, just three short weeks from now. Athletes from all over the world will be competing in the summer games. These athletes have been training, some of them all of their lives, in order to compete in these Olympic games. These athletes aren’t competing merely for the fun of it. Each and every athlete has been diligently working hard and preparing in such a way that they will win. They know that attention to every detail of their training and lifestyle is essential if they expect to win. So, they have dedicated themselves to being self-disciplined in all areas of their lives, all with the anticipation of winning and standing on the awards podium to receive their medal and to be recognized for their athletic achievements.
A Millennial Primer on the End Times
Last Sunday, we shared a very brief look at the various Millennial viewpoints about the end times. The Millennium is about the thousand-year reign of Christ mentioned six times in Revelation 20:2–7. The word is derived from two Latin words: mille, which means “a thousand” and annus, which means “years.” The period is used to place other end times beliefs in an order around the Millennium.
There are three primary beliefs about the Millennium (thousand year reign of Christ):
Don’t Mess with the Abominable
If you trace the word “abomination” or “horrid” or “detestable” in Scripture, you quickly find out what God despises or hates or what just disgusts Him (the meaning of the words). Those words simply reveal what is repugnant to God and His people in relationship to religion and morality. It’s not a fun word to trace, but it is very revealing.
The Big & Little F of Faithfulness
What a memorable day we had this past Sunday thanking and praising God for His great Faithfulness toward us, His gospel, and His Word over the past 40 years. He uniquely displays the big F of Faithfulness. We could never thank Him enough for sticking with us, yet it is also true that the Lord has been honored by those who have been faithful to Him and His church these past 40 years as well. These have modelled the little f of faithfulness to the Lord and His church.
