Get Wisdom! (Proverbs 4:1-27)

We live in a world flooded with information but starving for wisdom. Pastor Steve Greamey, a former CCFW pastor now serving at Watermark Bible Church in Virginia, walked us through Proverbs 4 with a message that cuts right to the heart of how we're meant to live. The book of Proverbs isn't a collection of tips to cherry-pick — it has a combination lock on it, and the key is Proverbs 1:7: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge." Fear of the Lord isn't cowering away from God. It's running toward him — a posture of worship and submission that reorients everything.

From that foundation, Pastor Steve unpacked three big ideas from Proverbs 4. First, wisdom is relational before it is informational — it's not downloaded, it's embodied in community, passed down through faithful relationships. Second, wisdom is orientational before it is behavioral — your life is moving somewhere, and small daily choices compound into a trajectory that becomes your destiny. And third, wisdom is universal before it is specific — God doesn't want a compartment of your life, he wants all of it: your heart, your mouth, your eyes, your feet.

The Christian life isn't mainly about dramatic moments. It's about daily habits that, over time, make you look more and more like Jesus.
